The Captain
As kids fishing was our addictive substance. We fished our butts off. If we were not on a boat, we were wade fishing or pond jumping maybe in a Jon Boat on a Lake fishing for bass.
Capt. Wayne is a local native fishing and boating on the Tampa Bay and its surrounding waters for over 40 years. Growing up on the Tampa Bay. My father would take us fishing. We had a great boat! I would love to have one today. It was a 213 Chris Craft Scorpion with a 200 Black Max Mercury. We fished Terra Ceia Bay, Miguel Bay and the Manatee River for Snook, Redfish and Trout. We fished the Sarasota Bay and Anna Maria Island for Sheepshead and Trout. We also did a lot of offshore trips catching Grouper and Snapper. It was a great versatile boat that I gained a ton of experience captaining at a young age. I was maybe 10 or 11 years old, I would back the boat off the trailer. I would captain the boat 30 plus miles offshore. Then captain the boat back and drive it on the trailer.
When the Capt. was in high school Pops had a smaller boat. Boy we wore that boat out. Me and a cousin or friend was out every day available. We day fished, we fished at night, we fished in the rain. It did not matter fishing was better that Christmas! Lord back in the early nineties me and my cousin Captain Roy Johnson we slap wore out the Snook night fishing every trip. We had it down pat. We would go to Longboat Pass with a dip net. We would net 20 or so Ballahoo. Then to Moore Stone Crab Restaurant about midnight once they closed. FISH ON!
I have always been addicted to the water. In my early years I worked a couple of boat companies. Then one day I decided I did not want to pursue that career. So I got my Captains license and started running fishing charters back in 2003/2004. Boy did we have a lot of fun! Back then you were a fishing guide. We caught a ton of fish Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon, Sheepshead, Snapper and Grouper all in the bay. It was great till the recession 2006 -2008. Then life takes you on a different path. Long story short, again I was working my butt off just like 2002. Then Covid happened. I told my wife its time to have some FUN again! And that’s were we are today! Fishing is my passion. I want to share my experiences on the Tampa Bay that I experienced as a child and that I experience today. We live in a beautiful place, hire an old school fishing guide to take you fishing, snorkeling or a private adventure island hopping! It will be “GOOD TIMES”.
The Ride and Equipment
Boat Photos
The ride is a 21 Hewes Redfisher is a big comfortable fishing platform. It has a great ride, it runs skinny, there is a ton of space and catches fish. I went with the Hewes Redfisher because the quality of build is outstanding. I have been on a ton of boats over the years; flats boats, bay boats and offshore boats. If you want performance, great fuel economy, a great ride and a ton of space. This is what you want to fish out of. You can fish hard or sand bar on bean bags.
The ride is powered with a 250 Yamaha, its loaded with the best of equipment. Garmin electronics, a Garmin Kraken trolling motor and a Power Pole. It has big live wells for a ton of bait for fishing and a ton of storage. We can fish hard or island hop with a bimini top, seating with a backrest and bean bags.
Captain Wayne will supply rods, reels, salt water fishing licenses up to 4 people bait and tackle.
Target Calendar
Anywhere from the Tampa Bay to Sarasota Bay is a very beautiful place to fish and visit. Low Stress, have fun and catch fish.
Capt. Wayne gives it to the day and fishes for what is given to us. On fair weather days we may be on the Tampa Bay fishing for Trout, Mackerel, Sharks, Jacks, Snapper or we may even jump a Tarpon. Tampa Bay is very diverse; you never know what you may catch. This is potluck fishing, just fun fishing!
Snook or Redfish is always fun! They are a shallow-water species of fish on the flats. This is always fun!
Tarpon trips are very exciting! There is nothing like jumping a juvenile Tarpon on light line or landing a monster!
The captain will clean your catch.
